How to read the score

Each operator's average Value Ratio is the mean across their live competitions — every draw they currently have running that carries a prize value we can verify. A VR of 1.00 means ticket sales exactly cover the prize; 3.00 means they take in three times what the prize is worth. Pick a category to re-rank every operator on their draws in that category alone.

Why rank operators instead of just listing them?

Every UK competition site says the same things about itself: great prizes, thousands of winners, low ticket prices. None of that is comparable. The Value Ratio is, because it's calculated the same way for every draw on every site — total ticket revenue at full sell-out, divided by the cash value of the prize. Averaged across everything an operator currently has running, it tells you something their marketing can't: whether their pricing is consistently fair, or whether the occasional headline bargain sits alongside a lot of expensive draws.

A low average doesn't make an operator “better” in every sense, and a high one doesn't make a site a scam. Bigger operators carry real costs — licensed prize sourcing, live-streamed draws, customer support — and some price a premium for that. What the ranking gives you is the honest trade-off, in one number, before you spend anything.

What we check before an operator goes in the directory

UK prize competitions are legal under the Gambling Act 2005 when they include either a genuine element of skill or a free postal entry route on equivalent terms. Every operator here trades publicly, publishes its terms, and exposes enough live data — ticket counts, prize values, closing dates — for us to verify what it's selling. Sites we can't reliably read, or that don't publish ticket allocations at all, don't make the list.

That said, inclusion is not an endorsement. Read each operator's own review page for the detail, and always check their terms for the draw method, the free entry route, and how winners are published before you enter. Using the sell-through numbers

Average sell-through is the most under-rated figure on this page. An operator whose draws close at 30% sold is one where your real odds are often far better than the headline “1 in 10,000” — because the draw goes ahead with a third of the tickets in the pot. An operator that consistently sells out has fuller pools and tighter odds, but tends to price them accordingly. Neither is automatically better; they suit different entrants. Which UK competition site offers the best value?
On average Value Ratio across their live draws, the operators at the top of this table price their tickets closest to the value of the prize they are giving away. The ranking updates hourly, so the leader changes as operators launch and close competitions. Bear in mind an operator with a strong average can still run individual draws that are poor value, and one with only a couple of rated draws is a smaller sample than one with fifty — check the sample size on the card, and the specific competition, before entering.
What is a good Value Ratio?
A Value Ratio of 1.00 means ticket sales at full sell-out exactly cover the prize value. Anything under 2.50 is genuinely good value by UK market standards, 2.50 to 4.00 is around the market average, and above 4.00 means the operator is taking in more than four times what the prize is worth.
Why do some operators show "No data available"?
A Value Ratio needs a verifiable prize value. Some operators publish prizes without a cash alternative or a clear market value, so we cannot score those draws. We still track their live competitions and list them here — they simply have no rated draw running at the moment, so we would rather say nothing than guess.
Are these UK competition sites legitimate?
Every operator listed trades publicly in the UK and publishes its terms, ticket allocations and draw method. UK prize competitions are legal under the Gambling Act 2005 provided they include a skill element or a free postal entry route. Inclusion in this directory means we can verify their live data — it is not a recommendation, so always read the operator terms before entering.
How often do these rankings update?
The page rebuilds hourly from our live database. Value Ratios are recalculated every time our scrapers refresh an operator, which happens multiple times a day for active sites, so an operator’s position moves as they launch and close competitions.
