How to Spot a Low-Odds Competition (Before Buying)

Not every competition site is built the same. While the UK has some fantastic, high-value platforms, there are others where the odds are heavily stacked against you. Here is our guide on how to spot a 'bad' draw before you part with your cash.

1. The 'Infinite' Timer

Beware of sites that don't have a fixed draw date or sites that 'extend' if tickets don't sell. Reputable sites draw on a fixed date regardless of sell-out. Extensions are a major red flag for low-quality operations.

2. Huge Ticket Counts for Small Prizes

Always do the mental math (or use our Value Ratio). If a site is selling 100,000 tickets at £5 for a £20,000 car, they are taking in £500,000 for a £20,000 prize. That is a Value Ratio of 25.0. You are effectively paying a massive premium for a tiny chance of winning. At Competition Showroom, we highlight draws closer to 1.0, where the odds are much more in your favor.

3. Lack of Transparent Winners

Legitimate sites show their winners. They do live draws on camera and have a 'Winners' page with photos. If a site feels 'ghostly', stay away.
